Senior Design 1
For Senior Design 1, James Utke and I chose one of a list of different projects to complete for our semester design project. The project we chose was the Photoelectric Switch.
The Photoelectric Switch uses a light sensor across a 36” door width to detect if something passes through the door. If something breaks the light beam, an audible alert will sound.
From this project, I learned the importance of documentation and keeping up with the documentation. I also learned that there are a lot of revisions that go into a design project, even a small one. The schematic shown below is the final revision of the design after consulting a faculty member several times to correct and refine our design.
